The statistics on cybercrime in India paint a picture that none can be proud of. What is most alarming in recent times is the increasing number of youth involved in cybercrime cases. To create awareness about this rapidly rising problem in Cyber Crime, Campion School organized a Seminar on the topic of the Impact of Social Media, Safeguarding against Social Media Offences, and Cyber Security Awareness in the Loyola auditorium at school premises. In this seminar more than 1000 students of Std. VI to XII were present. This program was specially arranged for the students. Chief Guest of the occasion was Cyber Security Expert and Advocate Yogesh Pandit (Ex campionite batch of 2005 shared their views, thoughts, and solutions on Cyber Crime Awareness with the students. He enlightened all the students, and staff members about possible threats of e-frauds, online banking frauds, debit & credit card fraud, hacking, phishing, email security, Laptop security, cyber defamation, cyberbullying, stalking etc. He pointed out that inappropriate use of the Internet is a major issue with school and college going students. Unknowingly students and children get trapped in various cyber related crimes. Right orientation and proper parental awareness can restrict the problem to some extent. He explained the safe usage of social media, online shopping, internet games, correct methods of using debit and credit cards and Internet banking. He also briefed the audience about keeping passwords safe and avoiding cyber bullying, data thefts, threats of fake profiles, and defamatory posts. In a most exciting direct Interaction session Questions and Answers round with students, the Chief Guest gives all the answers and clears the doubts of the students. Vice Principal Fr. Alok Kujur SJ has graced the occasion. In the end, Memento was given to the Chief Guest by the Vice Principal. Senior Teacher & lecturer Mr. Mahendra Kothari, Member of Management Miss Veena Bhambhal, and all the teachers were present on this occasion. Master of Ceremony was done by Mrs. Shilpa Bhave.
